A ride app for Kosovo and Albania: share an intercity ride and split the cost, or book a metered taxi on a live map — paid in cash, with verified profiles, live tracking and SOS.
01 — THE CHALLENGE
Getting between towns in Kosovo often comes down to an informal lift: a post in a group, a phone number, a price agreed on the spot. Kwiker wanted to keep what already works — cash, local drivers, fair prices — and add what was missing: knowing who you ride with, seeing where your car is, and a way to get help if something goes wrong.
02 — WHAT WE BUILT
We designed and built the iOS and Android app in React Native. For carpooling: a trip feed and route search on the map, seat requests the driver accepts, and in-app chat. For taxis: a live map of free cars from taxi companies and independent drivers, “Taxi now” with the nearest driver and arrival time, metered fares and rides booked for later. Across both: identity verification, two-way ratings, live tracking, an SOS button and a trip link an emergency contact can follow without the app. Around it sit a bilingual English and Albanian website, and a web dashboard where taxi companies manage drivers, vehicles and bookings.
03 — THE RESULT
Kwiker runs on a single Supabase backend — Postgres with row-level security, realtime chat and live locations, and edge functions for push, SOS and account deletion — plus its own routing server for routes and arrival times. Taxi mode arrived in version 2.2 on that same foundation, without a second backend, and the next ride types can plug in the same way.
